On first reviewing a manuscript please notice if the authors have provided sufficient critical context and rationale, and whether conclusions are based on the data and literature presented and critically described in the foregoing logical text. If implications for professional practice are mentioned, please check if they are justified by the presented empirical and theoretical findings.
In judging the quality of the manuscript and its suitability for publication in PAIR also note and check the following points:
- Research: Please evaluate whether the methodological approach to the study is sound, check research questions, data gathering and sampling strategy, data analysis and interpretations acknowledging any limitations. The research needs to be situated in an appropriate theoretical / empirical framework, rather than be mere descriptions of results, and needs to be properly discused regarding its implications for future research, theory, or practice.
- Presentation and style: Manuscripts should conform to the APA (6th edition) Style prescriptions and referencing should follow the current APA formats (and the Manuscript Template offered; see also the instructions for Authors). The text and subheadings should be clear and logical. Spelling should be consistent either British or US-spelling. Text should be concise and abbreviations, acronyms and unfamiliar terms should be avoided as much as possible. Non-discriminatory language should be used throughout. Pay attention to the appropriateness, accuracy, consistency and accessibility of any figures, tables or graphical data presented in the manuscript.
